Artist Statement
For the love of both nature and painting, I am an artist. The forms of plants and flowers, the shapes of a landscape, the sounds of birds, and the play of light on water all contribute to my inspiration. My imagination flows with impressions made by the visual, tactile and audial information of the natural world, what I am experiencing becomes tangible expression on the canvas.

Worldview and experience color my impressions. There's a hopefulness and a tenderness in the shapes of things. When I slow down to look or listen, I am deeply moved; nature is the master of ever-changing perfection.

The more we can have a sense of this perfection, and celebrate this in our complex world, the better we will live. As the first tenet of the physician is to do no harm, likewise making art for me, is about a passionate desire to be in the world in a loving way, to bring connection.

Since childhood I have had these impulses to create, to share the love and awe I see and feel in the natural world. At 13 I began keeping a sketchbook and have continued this practice throughout my life. My goal as an artist is to stir appreciation, and ultimately joy.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My art comes from my love of Nature. The forms of plants and flowers, the shapes of landscape, the sounds of birds, the sparkle of light on water --- all have a part in my inspiration. Above all is color. For me, colors have such energy and beauty that they are an endless source of exhilaration.
My goal as an artist is to stir appreciation, and ultimately joy. I find that making and viewing art keeps me grounded, and connected to the creative spirit which I see manifest everywhere-- in nature, in people and in art.
